Every Child Deserves a Home

Every Child Deserves a Future

Too many children today are abused, neglected, isolated, or overlooked — lost in the cracks of broken systems. At Father Flanagan House, we call them AINTs: Saints-In-Waiting. They are waiting to be seen. Waiting to be loved. Waiting for healing and purpose.

We believe these children don’t just need shelter — they need formation. That’s why we’re building Father Flanagan House: a faith-based, trauma-informed neighborhood rooted in prayer, discipline, and deep community. Inspired by the legacy of Boys Town and the example of Father Edward Flanagan, our mission isn’t simply to house boys. Our mission is to raise saints.

Through a holistic approach that includes Christian martial arts, spiritual formation, education, and unconditional love, we aim to restore the body, mind, and soul. These boys aren’t broken — they’re becoming. And we’re here to walk with them on that journey.

Our Story

The seeds of Father Flanagan House were planted through years of direct work with society’s most vulnerable — from homeless youth on the streets of Detroit and Lansing, to inmates behind bars, and young men struggling with addiction, trauma, and despair. Through these experiences, our team came to a simple but powerful conviction: no one is beyond hope — and every boy deserves a place to belong, to grow, and to become who he was created to be.

Father Flanagan House was born from that conviction.Located in Howell, Michigan, our vision is to create a safe, faith-based shelter for teenage boys who are currently without one — boys who have slipped through the cracks of foster care, who have aged out of temporary placements, or who are simply trying to survive on the streets.

These are teens from Metro Detroit, Lansing, and across the region who carry the wounds of neglect, abuse, or abandonment — but who still carry within them immense potential. We’ve seen firsthand how the right environment — one built on prayer, structure, mentorship, and love — can change the entire trajectory of a young man’s life.

We’ve seen what happens when boys discover discipline through physical training, healing through spiritual formation, and purpose through responsibility and community.Father Flanagan House is not just a shelter. It’s a place where boys can begin again — where they can become strong in body, steady in spirit, and rooted in hope. And this is just the beginning. We’re building a home.

We’re building a family. And we’re building a future — one boy at a time.

Mission & Vision

Saints in Street Clothes

If you want to understand the deeper vision that drives the Father Flanagan House — the convictions, the stories, and the soul behind the mission — we invite you to explore Saints in Street Clothes. Written by the core leader behind this project, Fr. Jarrod Dillon, this powerful little book offers a raw, honest, and hope-filled look at what it really means to walk with broken kids toward healing, holiness, and wholeness.

Saints in Street Clothes is more than a book — it’s the blueprint of a vision: that no one is too far gone, that sainthood is possible even in sneakers and hoodies, and that the Church has a sacred duty to build real homes for the children no one else will claim.

If the Father Flanagan House is the bricks and mortar, Saints in Street Clothes is the fire in the hearth.
